Midnight Rose

She still wears those memories of you
Like midnight roses wrapped so tight
Around that slim throat blue black dying
Flower kisses against such pale skin

You may know that I am also a published fiction author. I write as Marilu Mann for Ellora's Cave. I write erotica. I am not willing to be swept under a rug by this inane censorship.

What is Amazon Rank? What does it mean? If you read anything Amazon deems as "adult", it means you won't find your favorite books in the "top lists".

Here's what Amazon's Customer Service told author Mark Probst who writes YA gay fiction not erotic and not adult.

In consideration of our entire customer base, we exclude “adult” material from appearing in some searches and best seller lists. Since these lists are generated using sales ranks, adult materials must also be excluded from that feature.

I count myself fortunate in that I was able to semi-complete one of my dreams. :) I didn't get to talk to her face-to-face but this Tarot star (in my world at least) graciously agreed to an interview. I was so excited I decided to give away one of her books in celebration.

One of my loves that I rarely talk about is steampunk. I am particularly fond of the literature the reflects this genre. BUT! I found this person (or she found me) on Twitter (click to follow me).

Look at her blog! It's great fun and she crafts the most amazing rings! I so want that boulder opal one! She really does understand the genre of steampunk.

While I have not indulged in dressing the part, I can so see myself doing that!

Some examples of steampunk movies would be "Wild Wild West" with Will Smith. The giant spider is a perfect example of this genre of thought. Another is an anime movie only I can't remember the title. It's about a young boy who has to take his father's inventions and run from evil geniuses.

Dear Body,

WOW! Way to go! 12 days in a row with an average of 41.1 minutes? Not bad, baby, not bad at all. You might just walk that MS Walk in November instead of watching others walk. What do you think about that?

And you've done 30 minutes step aerobics two days in a row. Yes, you had to talk to yourself and yes, you use weird music for motivation (I mean c'mon.. ."She Thinks I'm Sexy" and Disney's "How Does She Know" and Tanita Tikaram?) but you did it. You did not stop.

Ok, so you fell over the puppy a few times but you were still moving! You did 3150 steps today. I have no idea how many steps it takes to make a mile but I think you did AWESOME!

Don't worry about that stupid weight thing. That's not what we are working on here, right? Just to have energy again to go and do things!

And we got another interview. Go Team Arwen!

Now please? Do us a favor? Hit the showers. You're kinda stinky!

I just pre-recorded a show on Tarot for KOOP 91.7 FM here in Austin. It will air this coming Monday 10/13/2008 at 2pm. (thanks to jazdewills for reminding me that details matter!)

You can listen to the show via streaming over the Internet if you can't get KOOP. Just head to KOOP's web to do that.

I hope you will take a moment to schedule a reminder and listen in. I'm going to be doing a live call-in show in a few weeks. Will let you know when that happens as well.

Teresa had some great questions about Tarot and healing (she is the host of the Ancient Medicine show on KOOP).

I'm also doing another radio show later this month with Raven Radio. That will be more focused on my writing and Tarot. Last time we did that one I did some live readings. What a blast that was. Listen to that August show. It's about an hour long. The hosts of that show crack me up so there's a lot of silliness at first.

Dear Body Day 7

On butch-femme.com there's a thread where you can write anonymous dear letters. Some of them aren't so anonymous. Here's one I wrote just now to myself.

Dear Body,

WAY TO GO! You managed to get in 32 minutes today. So far you are averaging 44 minutes a day which pretty much rocks. You tried to put it off today but you did it anyway. I'm really really proud of you.

Try not to let the other stuff get to you. You will find a job. You will. This Mercury retrograde is a doozy.

Speaking of that, don't take the crap too personally ok? Missing emails are not your fault. Misunderstandings are not your fault if you try to explain them and still don't get listened to.

And don't worry so much about da boy. He's 19 but he's got a really good head on his shoulders. He calls you when he's frustrated and needs a sounding board. You are blessed with his presence in your life and it is nothing less than a gift. You said you wanted kids...well, this one stuck around even after all that. He loves you and you love him. Hang on to that. He's going to make mistakes. It's okay. Gods know you made enough, right?

Stop being so sad about not being where you want to be this weekend. The trade off is worth it right? You are out of that town that wasn't feeding your soul. You are in a good place now. Let that carry you through.

And don't take shit so personal all the time. Everyone is a cranky mofo right now including you so breathe! If you get too wound up, go do some rhythm boxing with the Wii Fit. You will get two benefits...release of tension and exercise.

Like I said, you are doing awesome with the exercise. Yeah, it hurts to get up but they promise me it will get better if we just keep it up. Think of it! We might be able to go for a long walk like we used to and not have all those nasty tingles up and down our legs and feet.

~We will start on Saturday November 1st and end on Sunday Sunday November 30th
~To learn key words for the twenty-two major arcana cards as well as for the remaining 54 minor arcana cards
~To have a completed plot by the end of the month if you do all the lessons
~An active teacher who will answer your questions and encourage you. I won’t just download lectures and leave you hanging
~A very tight schedule guaranteed to open your imagination up as you are introduced to this fascinating tool for writing
